Misurata Free Zone Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges

Misurata Free Zone (MFZ), represented by its Chairman, Eng. Muhsin M. Sigutri, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, one of Europe’s leading ports and logistics hubs.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. François Dumont, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Libya, alongside a delegation of representatives from Belgian ports and Jan De Nul, the international company specializing in marine engineering and dredging services.

The agreement lays the foundation for closer cooperation in port development and logistics services. Key areas of collaboration include technical and consulting support, knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, digital transformation initiatives, and the development of sustainable and clean energy solutions.

The partnership will also support the development of port master plans, infrastructure projects, and specialized terminals, including a future bulk cargo terminal, with the aim of diversifying port activities and enhancing the competitiveness of Misurata Free Zone Port.

Both parties highlighted the importance of the partnership in supporting efforts to further develop Misurata Free Zone as a leading regional logistics hub. By drawing on the expertise and experience of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the collaboration is expected to contribute to the future development of Libya’s maritime transport and logistics sectors.
